MEM Dance Company

MEM Dance Company choreography and rehearsals take place outside of dancers’ regular weekly technique classes. In doing so dancers learn the importance of their training and individual growth as an artist, which can only take place inside the classroom. We then use that growth to propel their artistry, performance skills, and versatility to drive their choreography.

As a result we differentiate ourselves from most studios where choreography is learned with the weekly class. The focus of the class is then to learn, clean, and perfect a single routine for the majority of the year limiting the growth and individuality of dancers. As a result molding and growing dancers into versatile artists who are able to transition seamlessly into the many professional arts fields.

Our Dance Company offers three divisions for our students separated by a combination of their age, ability, and time availability. These divisions allow us to be inclusive of all of our students based on their individual goals. Participation in the Pre-Professional Division will be by invitation of the owners/directors.

Trainee (ages 7-9): Our Trainee Division is for our youngest dancers as an introduction to competitive dance, a bigger commitment to their growth in the arts, and additional performance opportunities. Trainee dancers must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours of training per week including ballet, tap, jazz, and company class in addition to their weekly rehearsals.

Apprentice (ages 9-18): Our Apprentice Division is a step up from our Trainee Division as a more flexible commitment than our Pre-Professionals; allowing dancers the ability to participate as a part of the Company. Apprentice dancers must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 hours of training per week including two ballet classes, jazz, modern, and company class, in addition to their weekly rehearsals. Lyrical/contemporary and tap are highly recommended.

Pre-Professional (ages 11-18): Our Pre-Professional Division is our most intensive for dancers who have a high drive, dedication, desire, and ability to commit to pre-professional level training. Pre-Professional dancers must be enrolled in a minimum of 8 hours of training per week including two ballet classes, jazz, lyrical/contemporary, modern, and company class. Acro and hip hop are also highly recommended.

Hip Hop Company: For dancers with a strong aptitude in Hip Hop, we also offer a Hip Hop Company Division.
